Sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ Online

Verily, thus saith the Lord unto you my servant: Go ye, go ye into the world and preach the gospel to every creature that cometh under the sound of your voice.” Doctrine & Covenants 80:1

“As you participate in this conversation and utilize the tools of new media, remember who you are--Latter-day Saints. . . . There is no need to argue or contend with others regarding our beliefs. There is no need to become defensive or belligerent. Our position is solid; the Church is true. We simply need to have a conversation, as friends in the same room would have, always guided by the prompting of the Spirit and constantly remembering the Atonement of the Lord Jesus Christ, which reminds us of how precious are the children of our Father in Heaven.”

— Elder M. Russell Ballard (“Sharing the Gospel Using the Internet,” July 2008).

Centering on Christ

Be sure to focus on that relationship that is most fruitful as you share the gospel: your relationship with Jesus Christ. As you look for new and effective ways to bring others to Christ, remember to always follow the Spirit’s promptings so that you can share the good news in a spirit of charity.

“With the blessings of modern technology, we can express gratitude and joy about God’s great plan for His children in a way that can be heard . . . around the world. Sometimes a single phrase of testimony can set events in motion that affect someone’s life for eternity.” — President Dieter F. Uchtdorf (Ensign, May 2011, “Waiting on the Road to Damascus.”)

Look for the Links

The number of ways you can share online information is growing rapidly, while it is almost impossible to keep up with the many options, the church is doing a great job at creating content and making it easy to share. You don’t have to master all of the social media options but you should find one or two you like and when you see  them next to appropriate content, bearing your testimony is only a click away.
